Western Tanager

The Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) is a fairly common summer visitor/local breeder found in open forests across most of BC. They are quite striking; bright yellow with a black tail and black wings with white stripes. The adult male has a bright red head during the breeding season. They eat insects and berries and sometimes visit feeders.
